The spirit of competition was almost as detectable as the spirit of compassion on Monday, December 23 in the gymnasium at Kinnaird Community Church.

The occasion was the debut of the Christmas Cup floor-hockey tournament, an effort with nothing but winners – the entire exercise being conducted for the benefit of the Community Harvest Food Bank.

With strong commitment from Michelle and Darren Pottle, Shauna Leduc and the church that supplied the facility with its compliments, the event had a ceiling of eight squads... and everybody contributed money and/or food items to get in on the action.

The planning began back in October.
