This year’s Spring Fling is all about family fun.

“We are really excited about this year’s festival,” said Peter Laurie, one of the organizers. “We have a great lineup and there will be lots for everyone to do.”

The 9th Annual Spring Fling Festival takes place Saturday April 26 in downtown Castlegar.

The festival runs 11 a.m. until 6 p.m.

“The popular 3-on-3 hockey event will be introducing an elimination style hockey tournament where teams will compete for a life size replica of the Stanley Cup,” added Laurie.

This year will see the addition of two rinks, allowing for more teams and games.

Another new event will be the Bike Rodeo where kids can bring their bikes and take part in a variety of activities.

There will also be a variety of local vendors who will be there providing a variety of food, crafts and information.

Miss Castlegar and other Queen Candidates will be hosting the Kids’ Carnival where kids can play games. There will be lots of local musicians and entertainers taking to the stage throughout the day.

As always the annual Show n’ Shine will give local car enthusiasts the chance to show off their rides.

There will also be an opportunity for festival goers to check out police cars, fire trucks, search and rescue vehicles and ambulances.

“Bring the whole family out and help us give springtime a warm welcome in downtown Castlegar,” said Laurie.
