Safeway manager Brian Bogle dropped into Kootenay Family Place to present gift cards in the amount of $1,961 this week.

The money was raised via an ice cream fundraiser inspired by Sobey’s/Safeway as part of their Canada 150 initiative.

Kootenay Family Place was chosen as the participating community partner.

The fundraiser was held at the Castlegar Safeway.

Castlegar was the fourth-largest raiser of funds of approximately 100 organizations participating across Western Canada.

KFP also received an extra $500 as part of the Sobey’s Kids Paying It Forward program. Taylor Wyatt nominated the organization for this award for being nominated as an organization that also supports youth by including programs with a food component.

A big thank you to our volunteers and to the local Safeway who hosted the event with staff who were there to support the cause all day.
