Every year Kinnaird Elementary raises money for the Terry Fox Cancer Foundation.

This week Mrs. Matson’s Grade 6/7 class shattered last year’s goal for the fundraiser. In fact, they doubled it by raising $700.

Division 2 decided to make healthy muffins for this year’s fundraiser to encourage students at KE to bring a toonie for Terry. They made healthy muffins for the students at KE. They made about 300 muffins in French class.

Paige McFaddin stated “We were able to make the muffins with the help of Safeway, they donated a $75 gift card for the ingredients. We are extremely grateful to them for their support. If the gift card wasn’t donated we would have had to take money from our proceeds to afford the ingredients.”

“I’m glad we were able to supply muffins for all sorts of food allergies like egg free, gluten free, and dairy free. We also had lots of different flavours; zucchini chocolate chip, lemon poppy seed, banana avocado and many others,” said Cora Laporte. The students at KE rallied behind this fundraiser.

Ethan Price Pearse said “I felt excited about our fundraiser this year, and confident that we were going to meet our goal. I’m surprised we made so much money in just two days.” Aydenn Batchelor says “Hopefully we can do this next year. I wish Terry could see what we did for him.”
