B.C. Hydro press release

Please be advised that the dam deck over the Hugh L Keenleyside Dam will be open to the public from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily from Monday, December 17 to Sunday, January 6.

As of Monday, January 7, the dam deck will continue to be closed for the duration of the Spillway Gates Reliability Upgrade Project, which is scheduled to be complete by late 2015. This project is necessary to ensure dam safety and to ensure that during high flows BC Hydro can continue to safely discharge flood waters downstream.

Please note that as always during access closures BC Hydro will continue to open the dam deck to the public when it is safe to do so. Access to the Navigational Lock will remain open through the south entrance, except during Navigational Lock outages.

We thank you for your continued support while these important safety improvements are completed.  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me directly at 250.365.4565 or by email at
