Close to 200 show up to public forum regarding possible Castlegar Primary closure - with photo gallery

It wasn't as many people as Rossland's estimate 500, but close to 200 did show up to show their displeasure with the possibility of the school board closing Castlegar Primary School.

School District 20 superintendent Greg Luterbach started things off with a slide slow showing the increasing costs the board is facing, while receiving less money from the government.

Two options were presenting for Castlegar Primary: 1. Close the school and move the students to Twin Rivers, or 2. Merge the two schools, thus keeping kids where they are but eliminating administration costs.

People were put into groups and asked to come up with solutions and questions for the board. A person from each group presented five key points to the board. The evening wrapped up with a question and answer session.

School trustees will have three upcoming readings before meeting on Feb. 25 at Trail Middle School for final voting on what will happen to Castlegar Primary.
