Zellstoff and Zamboni – a match made in Castlegar

The Castlegar & District Recreation Commission is thrilled to enter into a partnership with Zellstoff Celgar with sponsorship of the new Zamboni at the Castlegar & District Community Complex-Arena.

The sponsorship allows Zellstoff Celgar to enhance the Zamboni with images of the mill and logos on the sides, top and front. From the sponsorship funds $1,000 will be paid annually to each of the following ice user groups; Minor Hockey, Castlegar Skating Club, Castlegar Rebels and Selkirk Saints.

In addition, $3,000 will be provided annually to assist children of low income families to register in organized sport and recreation activities. Remaining funds will be put in the reserve fund for future replacement of an ice surfacing machine.

Recreation Commission Chair Mayor Lawrence Chernoff states, "The commitment shown from Zellstoff Celgar with this partnership strengthens and benefits the broader community as a whole, and helps us all to continue to 'Build a Healthy Community.' On behalf of the Recreation Commission (City of Castlegar, Areas I and J, we thank Celgar!"
