The long-awaited new fire truck has finally arrived in Castlegar.

Council decided to purchase the truck back in October 2015, but typical order to delivery times are about 450 days, putting delivery just a little behind schedule.

The 2016 Rosenbauer mid-mount 100 foot ladder/platform truck — plus value added components — cost $1.4 million.

The truck replaces a 1987 Ford-Anderson that was required to be retired by March in order to comply with Insurance Advisory Organization Fire Underwriters Survey requirements.

The new truck has a pumping capacity of 2,000 gallons per minute. The new ladder platform device can assist in above-grade rescue and below-grade rescue and confined spaces.
