Fires Of Note:
There are no fires burning near any Southeast communities or structures, however, smoke from a fire burning two kilometres south of the Canadian / U.S.A border, south of Christina Lake, is visible to nearby Boundary communities.
The fire is approximately ten hectares and is located on difficult, steep terrain. Forty American fire fighters and one helicopter are working the fire. Southeast Wildfire Management personnel are monitoring the situation.

Another fire burning in the Gray Creek area on Sphinx Mountain, (approximately 50 kilometres NE of Nelson), is ten hectares and was caused by lightning. Smoke from this fire is visible from Crawford Bay.
Smoky Skies:
An inversion over the next couple days will trap smoke blown north‐ward from the fires burning in Washington. This will result in lower air qualities in the Boundary and West Kootenay regions.

Thirty‐one personnel from the Southeast Fire Centre are assisting with wildfires in Washington and four Initial attack crews are working on fires in the Prince George Fire Centre.
