Mrs. Candis Jerome of Castlegar B.C. passed away on January 21, 2017 in Trail B.C. at the age of 67.
Candis was born to parents Robert and Pearl Steuart on July 17th 1949 in Kimberly B.C. At the age of 14 she moved to Calgary to be with her Dad and later moved to Vancouver for a couple years.
Candis met Donald Jerome in Castlegar, B.C., where they married August 9, 1968. They remained in Castlegar, making it their home. Candis had 4 children, 20 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Candis was a dedicated volunteer for Scouts Canada. She served as a Beaver and Cub leader to a generation of young Castlegar boys who referred to her as “Akela. Candis was known for her dedication and love for children. She cared for each one of them as if they were her own.
Candis is survived by her children Ken, Jacqueline (Steve), Steve and Kim (Mike) as well as her brother’s Bill and Don (Leanne), grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Candis was predeceased by her husband Donald, mother Pearl, father Robert, and sister’s Carol and Cheryl.
A celebration of life will be held on January 27, 2017 at New Life Church in Castlegar B.C. at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers donations can be given to Scouts Canada or the Canadian Cancer Society.
