Garth was born April 29, 1944 in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia to June Marie and Garth B. Johnson. He unexpectedly passed away on February 10, 2017.
Garth and family moved to Castlegar after 25 years of service in the Canadian Armed Forces as an Air Traffic Controller in Edmonton, Alberta. Garth then became a Civilian Member of the R.C.M.P. as Dispatcher out of Nelson, B.C.
Garth had many hobbies after retiring at the age of 60, including motorcycling right up to this past summer along with cycling and cross country skiing, where he found another hobby – track setting for the Castlegar Nordic Ski Club which filled many days, over many years, enjoying and meeting the skiers.
Garth was a wonderful Dad to our son Chip and a proud Grandfather to our grandchildren, Cody and Kacy – the apples of his eye and the love of my life for 52 years. Garth will remain in our hearts forever.
