March 10, 1953 – June 7, 2017
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gord after a protracted battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Gord was born March 10, 1953 in Kinnaird to parents John and Florence.
Gord worked at Cominco and then Teck for 42 years, first as a pipefitter and finally as a sign maker. He loved fishing, golfing, and pool. He was one of the founding members of the West Kootenay 8 Ball League and enjoyed playing the game even when the disease started to show its effects. He also loved camping in his later years in his travel trailer with his wife.
Gord is survived by his loving wife Janet, daughters Jaime and Erica, and son Michael (Stephanie). He is also survived by his brothers Rick and John and his sisters Vicki, Pam, and Lorraine as well as his many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in Gord’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada.
As per Gord’s request, no funeral will be held but there will be celebration held at his home on July 15, 2017 at 3pm. Please join his family and friends in remembering him and enjoying an afternoon BBQ at 2217 10th Ave, Castlegar, BC.
He is greatly missed by everyone. Forever in our
hearts and minds.
