Marie Planedin was born June 26, 1927 in Queenstown, Alberta to William and Annie (nee Kanigan) Planedin. She died November 26, 2016
in Castlegar, BC. She was
predeceased by both parents, brothers Bill, Eddy, Paul, Cecil and sister Annabelle.
Left to mourn her passing are brother Gordon (Mary), sister Patsy, daughter Kathleen Makortoff and her family Stephanie (Barry), Leesa, Alek, Felix, Nicholas (Sarah), Kaitlin, Liam, son Dan Shlakoff (Verna) and their son Tony, son Gerry Lasai (Adalia) and their family Stephanie, Cody, Jacqueline, and Wyatt. Services were held in Grand Forks, BC, November 24, 2016 and in Krestova, BC, where she was interred November 25, 2016.
The family would like to thank all her friends and relatives for their kindness and caring during her last years, thoughts and words of comfort, the flowers, calls and cards in her passing. To the
doctors Merritt and Vasil and all the staff at
Talarico Place – you folks are wonderful. To Harry and Stella Zeabin for officiating at services in both towns and guiding us gently through the
traditions. To J.J. Verigin and Barry Verigin for
their words of insight and inspiration. To the Psalm singers at Grand Forks and Krestova for their wonderful voices. To Leonard and Valarie
Balchewski for their organizational skills. To the grave diggers for their compassion. To the cooking group in Krestova for a wonderful repast. To the Grand Forks Funeral Home for being accommodating through rain, snow, fog and for just being really nice people.
