Early in the morning of Saturday, October 22nd, 2016, Nada Loukianoff, loving wife, mother, baba and great baba left this earthly life and gained her angel wings.

Nada was born in Nelson, B.C. on April 18th, 1936 to Fred and Polly Markin. Since birth, Nada resided in Glade and lived there until her final days.

Nada met and married Frank Loukianoff in the early 1950’s and spent 62 years of marriage together. In those years they had 3 children: Marci, Frank and Len. Nada loved her family deeply and their happiness and health was always her focus.

Nada was kind, caring and full of spirit. She was an extrovert who loved to socialize. She loved the sun, the outdoors, country music, swimming, camping with her good friends, big earrings, singing and dancing and being in her garden. Nada was an avid reader and was always lost in a good book. She loved her grandkids dearly and made many treasured memories with them throughout the years. Her most recent joy was becoming a great baba and spending time with her great grandchildren in her backyard.

Nada was most known in her community as the crosswalk attendant and noon hour supervisor at Tarry’s Elementary. Nada cherished the years she was employed there and the children, staff, friendships and memories made.

Nada’s passing leaves a great hollowness in the hearts of her family and friends, but knowing she is free of pain gives great comfort.

Nada is survived by her husband Frank, daughter Marci, sons Frank (Patti) and Len (Valentina), 6 grandchildren: Tianna (Ben), Ryan, Josh, Shane, Brandon (Staci), Tasha and 3 great grandchildren: Jayda, Peyton and Mason. She was predeceased by her parents and sister, Helen.

At Nada’s request a private “Celebration of Life” will be held at a later time. The family would like to thank Dr. Jose Lesperance for the many years of compassion and care. And thank you to Castlegar Funeral Chapel for their help and services.

“MOTHER”

A gentle wind blew across the land

Reaching out to take a hand.

For on the wind the angels came

Calling out a Mother’s name

Left behind, the children’s tears

Loving memories of the years.

Of joy and a life well spent

And now to God a mother is sent

On angel’s wings, a heavenly flight

The journey home, towards the light

To those who weep, A life is gone

But in God’s love, it’s but the dawn
