It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Stan Salikin after a short courageous battle with cancer, on August 10, 2016 at the age of 78.

Stan will be lovingly remembered by his children Kathleen Wright (Bill), Peter Salikin and Patricia Elliott (Doug). Stan will be extremely missed by his 7 grandchildren Justin, Logan, Samantha, Mitchell, Jacqueline, Nichole and Jade, and his great grandchildren Adam and Aminah. Stan is also survived by his sister Renie (Peter) and Brother Joseph (Donna). Stan was predeceased by his loving wife Lois and parents George and Molly Salikin and grandson Jonathan.

Stan was born on February 22, 1938 in Watson, SK to Molly and George Salikin. In 1944 the family headed to BC, in the Model A car where the family started various business’. Stan graduated in 1956 from Stanley Humphries High School in Castlegar, BC. After high school he started his long career with Woolco where he climbed the corporate ladder and met the love of his life. He married Lois on August 4, 1962 and over a period of time the couple welcomed 3 children into their home Peter, Patricia and Kathleen. In 1977 they made the move to Kimberley where he opened up shop, the Macleods/True Value store which they operated for 25 years, and become a staple in the community.

Stan was accomplished businessman and was a generous/witty/dedicated individual who loved his family, community and traveling and who was passionate about helping others, fundraising and adventure. He was an active and dedicated member of the Kimberley Helping Hands Food Bank, Kimberley Rotary Club, Elks Club, and Kimberley Float Committee….really the list goes on and on.

A Celebration of Life was held on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at the Kimberley Convention Center. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to The Kimberley Helping Hands Food Bank.
