Rebels blow two goal lead in BV, fall 5-3
The Castlegar Rebels lost 5-3 in Beaver Valley Friday night after giving up a 2-0 lead.
Darren Medeiros opened the scoring up at 11:01 of the first period for the Rebels, assisted by Aaron Petten and goalie Connor Beauchamp. Brendan Heinrich less than a minute later to put the Rebs up 2-zip, assisted by Matt Reed and Bryan Lubin.
Beaver Valley than scored four straight goals to put the game away (Dallas Calvin, Kurt Black X2 and Derek Lashuk),
Riley Ostoforoff picked up a goal in the third period, assisted by Peter Mingus and Hunter Jenerou to cut the Nitehawk lead to 5-4. But Derek Lashuk, with his second of the game, would put the game away with an empty netter with 24 seconds left.
