The Castlegar Rebels were absolutely dominant in the first period of their game tonight (Wednesday) against the visiting Spokane Braves. The Rebs out-shot the Braves 25-1 and outscored them 3-0 after one period. They would add two more to cruise to a 5-0 victory.

Opening the scoring was Stuart Walton, with his first of two, followed by Jamie Vlanich and defenceman Aaron Brewer, who scored from the point on the power play.

The Rebels would finish strong with Walton's second of the game in the second period and a goal from Darren Medeiros in the third to give them a 5-0 shut-out win over the fourth place Braves.

Jordan Gluck picked up the shut-out win for the Rebels stopping 16 shots.

The win puts Castlegar back into sole possession of second place in the Neil Murdoch division with 51 points, two ahead of the surging Beaver Valley Nitehawks, who have won seven games in a row. Nelson sits precariously atop the division with 53.

The Rebs are off until Sunday when they host the division leading Leafs in an afternoon affair.
