Bryan Lubin and Travis Wellman scored two goals each to lead the Castlegar Rebels over the Golden Rockets 5-3 in KIJHL action in Golden on Saturday night. The win moves the Rebels past Nelson into first place in both the Neil Murdoch division and the entire KIJHL with 68 points with two weeks of the season left.

James Price cut the Rebs lead to 4-2 in the third period but Castlegar would quash any come back attempts with an empty netter from Lubin late in the game.

In net for the Rebs was Jordan Gluck, who stopped 27 of 30 shots.

The Rebels have busy weekend as come down to the final stretch before play-offs. On Friday (Feb. 8) the boys host Beaver Valley, the next day the teams play in Fruitvale. On Sunday (Feb. 10) Castlegar hosts the much improved Grand Forks Border Bruins in an afternoon affair.
