The Castlegar Aquanauts returned from Colville, Washington with 48 best times from 21 swimmers.

Our athletes performed their best and we had many outstanding swims. This includes our Division 1 girl Hazel Johnson who swam the Guts ‘n’ Glory 400m Individual Medley for our team in a time of 11:31.90. She performed very well all weekend.

Our medal count reached nine aggregate medals from Hazel Johnson – Silver, Ethan Marshall – Silver, Allynna Lipinski – Bronze, Claire Cartwright – Gold, Bryce Anderson – Gold, Ethan Lawczynski – Bronze, Cayden Cooke – Gold, Emma Lawczynski – Gold and Doug Van Ek – Gold.

All athletes performed well in Colville even with the extreme heat and sun exposure of the outdoor pool.

Special recognition is needed for Ethan Lawczynski who swam four personal bests at the meet and James Marshall who overcame an injury to achieve personal bests as well.

Our Swimmer of the Week was Matthew Seredynsky who swam three personal bests in Colville and swam a meet free of disqualifications. Congratulations to all who competed.

This coming weekend we have our home swim meet in Castlegar. This will be a great opportunity for all swimmers to attend and any individuals interested in this sport to come and support their friends and family who are competing.
