The Castlegar Aquanauts held their home swim meet two weekends back.

With 29 swimmers, they achieved their season best performance of 61 best times.

They all swam their best against stiff competition from larger clubs and managed to achieve an aggregate third place finish.

The team of eight seniors managed to complete the Mile Relay in a time of 17:21.37. Consisting of Cayden Cooke, Ethan Lawczynski, James Marshall, Claire Cartwright, Avery Cooke, Bryce Anderson, Allynna Lipinski and Emma Lawczynski: all athletes swam a total of four individual 50 m sprints.

The medal count was an all-time high this season with 10 aggregate medals. Hazel Johnson – silver, Sebastian Johnson – bronze, Ethan Marshall – bronze, Claire Cartwright – gold, Hunter Hansen – silver, Bryce Anderson – gold, James Marshall – bronze, Cayden Cooke – gold, Emma Lawczynski – gold and Doug Van Ek – silver. For Sebastian Johnson, this was his first time earning an individual medal.

Last week the team worked hard during their Beast Mode Week where practices were gruelling and fun.

They took part in team-building competitions where athletes participated in games and training regiments meant to increase their physical capabilities and prepare them for Regionals and Provincials.
