Some Arrow Lakes organizations received funding following the Aug. 17, 2017 board meeting of the Regional District of Central Kootenay,

Notably, a grant request submitted earlier this year by the Nakusp and District Museum Society in the amount of $5,000 was approved.

The Nakusp-based Kootenay Sufferfest Society also received $300 as a grant.

From the discretionary fund, $1,500 will be disbursed to the West Kootenay EcoSociety, and a further $300 will go to the Columbia Basin Environmental Education Network.

Lastly, the Nakusp Centennial Golf Club will receive $20,000 for their washroom modernization project from the “Community Works” fund.

“We are very pleased to receive this funding. We plan on building a whole new outdoor facility on hole six, to replace the old and very dilapidated wooden outhouse currently standing there,” stated Chantelle Carter, one of the golf club’s board members.
