During Aboriginal Awareness week in Castlegar hosted by SD 20, River Journey Dance showcased their fancy dance shawls and offered demonstrations of women's fancy shawl powwow style dancing. With support from SD 20, The Kootenay Cultural Alliance & The Lower Columbia All First Nations, the group has been creating their own outfits. Each dancer designed and created their own shawls, selecting colors and symbols that were meaningful to them.
