Statement:
Suzanne is a self-taught acrylics artist whose passion for painting came from a “desire to play with colour” after she found herself “falling in love with colours, one after the other, and needing to be surrounded by objects in those colours.”
After she moved out west, her desire came to fruition and she now paints daily in her small, home-based Kaslo studio where she lives with her husband.
Inspired by her mountainous surroundings, Suzanne spends much of her time “looking at things: the shapes of trees, recurring patterns, how landscape changes in certain light, certain weather.”
While the many photographs Suzanne takes are a visual reference, she finds her own “memory recall invaluable to the life of a painting, capturing not only landscape, but the feeling of being in that landscape.”
