The annual photo show sponsored by the West Kootenay Camera Club (WKCC) is back again this year, opening on June 2 at the Kootenay Gallery Art in conjunction with Castlegar’s Sunfest.

The display will feature judged photo entries from WKCC members and non-members. The photo show will be on display from 10 a.m. June 2 until 5 p.m. on June 9. The Gallery is open Tuesdays to Sundays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and is closed on Mondays.

Non-members of the WKCC are invited to enter their photos and join in the fun. Members of the club may submit a total of 10 entries, and non members may submit a total of five entries each. No one is allowed more than two entries per category.

The number of categories is smaller this year, there will now be five instead of 10. These categories are: nature, human interest, places, creative, and open. The categories and their definitions, as well as the photo show rules and the entry form can be found at westkootenaycameraclub.com. The deadline to enter is May 1.

The WKCC welcomes all citizens of the Kootenays to become a member of the club at any time. Meetings are held every second Monday evening over the fall and winter.

The public is encouraged to visit the show on the weekend that Sunfest is held as people get to vote for the People’s Choice Award, and can also enter to win the loonie prize — a beautiful, framed print, to take home.

The WKCC would like to thank the Kootenay Gallery for hosting the photo show.

“The people who run the gallery are always very gracious and helpful,” says the show’s coordinators. “To anyone who has never been to the gallery, the photo show is a good place to start.

To those who have always thought they might have just the right photo to enter, now is the time to do it!

And, to those who are attending events at Sunfest, don’t forget to take a trip over to the Kootenay Art Gallery for a look at the photo show. You won’t be disappointed!
