Castlegar Hospice Society kicked off its annual Celebrate a Life memorial tree and holiday display last Thursday at the Super 8 Hotel.

Celebrate a Life encompasses two aspects, one is supporting hospice financially and the other is having a place to leave a memorial message during the holidays in honour of a loved one. There is even a special memorial tree just for pets.

Everyone is invited to stop by the Super 8 to view the holiday display. Visitors can leave a donation with hotel staff and fill out a card to leave on one of the trees.

The display is one of the main fundraising events for Castlegar Hospice. All donations stay right here in Castlegar for things like palliative services, grief and bereavement support services and community workshops.

This time of year, the Hospice Society also recognizes that some people may need extra support.

Castlegar Hospice Society executive director Suzanne Lehbauer says that anyone needing support or suffering grief is welcome to call the office to talk about the services hospice can provide for them.

The Castlegar Hospice Society can be contacted by calling 250-304-1266 or visiting

Donations can also be made on the hospice website or by calling the office.
