The Castlegar and District Public Library has hired a new library director.

Born in Ontario, Alexandra Seaborn has lived in Castlegar since the age of five. While attending Selkirk College’s University Arts and Sciences program, Seaborn began working as a student page at the Castlegar Library, which led to her pursuing a career in the library world.

Seaborn graduated with distinction from the University of the Fraser Valley with her Library and Information Technology Diploma in 2019.

With Selkirk College “veterans” as parents, Seaborn started her library career at Selkirk College as a library technician. She has also worked at the Castlegar and District Public Library in various roles over the last decade. She has a genuine passion for public library service, helping people, and serving our community. She is now moving from her role as the library technician at the Castlegar library to the director.

The Board of Trustees is absolutely thrilled to have Seaborn on board.

“We are looking forward to working with Alex to continue to deliver the services and programs the library is known for,” says the board.
