Castlegar arts and sports groups receive $200,000 in gaming grants

Local groups benefit from provincial funding stream

A number of local sports, arts and culture organizations are receiving a funding boost through provincial gaming grants.

More than $400,000 was distributed to 20 organizations in the Kootenay West riding. The funding is part of over $43 million distributed across British Columbia. The Community Gaming Grants program funnels revenue from commercial gaming operations to not-for-profit organizations.

Castlegar Sculpturewalk — $14,400

Kootenay Gallery of Art — $15,000

SQx Danza — $80,000

Castlegar Minor Hockey — $35,000

Castlegar Hockey Society — $15,000

Castlegar Skating Club — $20,000

Selkirk Challengers Gymnastics Club — $16,200
