Brad Hause, President of Source For Sports®, and Chairman Kevin Bezanson of Cleve’s Source For Sports®, recently presented the 2011 John Buckner Memorial Award of Merit at their Annual Hockey Buying Show held in Hamilton, Ontario this month.
This award of distinction is presented in honour of John Buckner who was a strong advocate of Source For Sports® and a mentor to all who knew him, and is awarded to the store or individual whose efforts and attitude have positively impacted the group. John passed away in 2007 at the age of 56.
This year’s recipient was Dale Donaldson, owner of Mallard’s Source For Sports® with locations in Nelson and Castlegar, British Columbia. Dale has been a member of the Source For Sports® buying group since 1986 and not only served on the ski committee for 16 years from 1987-2003, but also on the marketing committee. Donaldson also served on the Board of Directors starting in 1993, and held the position as the Chairman of the Board from 2000 to 2002.
Recently retired past president, Randy Hooper, as well as store owners paid tribute to Dale for his years of dedication to the group and the role he has played in its success.
Dale was visibly moved to receive the John Buckner Memorial Award. “Being the recipient of this award was a complete surprise, and very emotional for me,” said Donaldson. “It has been a real honour having known John and his family.”
