Castlegar cadets face year-end review

Air Cadet Squadron 581 marked the end of its year with their Annual Ceremonial Review on June 8

The Royal Canadian Air Cadet Castlegar 581 Squadron marked the end of its year with an Annual Ceremonial Review on June 8.

The review was the squadron's 72nd. The 581 received its charter in 1952 and has been serving the area ever since.

About one dozen cadets showed off their parade skills and faced the inspection of four reviewing officers — Castlegar Fire Chief Sam Lattanzio, B.C. Provincial Cadet League Committee Director and National Governor Terri Hinton, Area Elemental Advisor Maj. Greg Solomonides and the squadron's own commanding officer Lt. Llora McTeer.


Promotions from leading air cadet (LAC) to Corporal were given to Cpl Miller, Cpl. Albano, Cpl. C. Oh, Cpl. Medland and Cpl. Cox.

F/Cpl. T. Oh was promoted from corporal to flight corporal.

Sgt. Guerin was promoted from flight corporal to sergeant.


Two cadets tied for the Top Attendance Award this year -- Cpl. June Oh and Sgt. Golson Menard.

Cpl. Mila Alban was recognized with the Top Rookie Cadet Award.

The Top Junior Dress and Deportment Award went to Cpl. Clara Oh while the Senior Dress and Deportment Award went to Sgt. Golson Menard.

The Most Proficient Junior Award went to F/Cpl. Jovan Bijo and the Most Proficient Senior Award went to Sgt. Mateus Duarte.

F/Cpl. June Oh won the Marksmanship Award.
