Castlegar celebrated Winterfest on Friday night.

Things kicked off with entertainment outside City Hall and then Castlegarians young and old lined up alongside Columbia Ave. to watch the Winterfest Parade. There were many brightly lit floats from various local businesses and organizations, but kids were most excited about the final float, which featured Mr. and Mrs Clause riding in an old fire engine.

Following the parade, Mayor Lawrence Chernoff and Santa Clause did the countdown to light up the square, while kids and parents lined up for a chance to meet with Santa and Mrs. Clause.
