Wondering how to celebrate the season? Here’s a list of events in and around Castlegar

Nov. 30 — Castlegar Air Cadets Paws with Santa fundraiser. Pet photos with Santa by donation. 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Cadet Hall.

Nov. 15 to Dec. 24 — Kootenay Gallery Christmas exhibit and sale. Wide selection of unique Kootenay made gifts. November Hours: Tuesday to Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. December hours: seven days a week 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission by donation.

Dec. 1 — Christmas Craft Fair at the Castlegar Community Complex. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Dec. 6 — Winterfest. Downtown Castlegar. Entertainment starts at 5 p.m. Parade of Lights 6 p.m. City Hall Christmas tree lighting 6:30 p.m. Flowin Owen Light Show 7 p.m.

Dec. 6 — Light up the Castlegar Health Centre pledge day. Refreshments, door prizes, silent auction, entertainment at the Castlegar Health Centre 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Dec. 6 and 7 — Twin Rivers Community Choir concert at the Old Castle Theatre 7:30 p.m. with special matinee performance Dec. 7 at 2 p.m. Tickets $15 available at Castlegar Realty or Mountain High Lighting.

Dec. 7 — Food bank spaghetti dinner fundraiser at St. David’s Anglican Church. 5 to 7 p.m. $15 per person.

Dec. 7 — Mount Sentinel grad class Christmas Craft Fair 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the school. Santa will be on site to take pictures with kids and pets.

Dec. 7 — Castlegar United Church bake sale 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Bring your own container to take your goodies home.

Dec. 7 — Breakfast with Santa at the Castlegar Community Complex. Tickets must be purchased in advance as there will be no same day tickets available.

Dec. 12 — CP Holiday Train arrives 4:20 p.m. at the Castlegar railyard behind the Station Museum. The event is a fundraiser and collection site for the Community Harvest Food Bank.

Dec. 13 — Free screening of Polar Express at the Old Castle Theatre at 6 p.m.

Dec. 14 and 15 — Family Christmas musical Away In a Mango at New Life Church at 6:30 p.m. Free admission. An offering will be taken to help cover expenses, donations of gift cards from local merchants are accepted, they will be given away to families in need.

Dec. 14 and 15 — Castlegar Fire Department toy drive 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at A&W. Toys must be new and unwrapped. Donations can also be dropped off anytime at the fire hall.

Dec. 14 — Christmas Craft Faire at the Sandman Hotel 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fundraiser for local animal shelters.

Dec. 24 — Christmas Eve Candlelight Service 6 p.m. at Castlegar Baptist Church.
