The Castlegar Hospice Society is proud to announce that Executive Director Suzanne Lehbauer is the recipient of the prestigious BC Hospice Palliative Care Association & Sovereign Order of St. John of Jerusalem Award Recognizing End-of-Life Care for British Columbians.
The award is being given for an Advanced Care Planning Community Engagement Project that Suzanne developed. She will be given the award, along with $5000.00 to go towards the project at the BCHPCA Conference in Vancouver on May 25th.
This is the second time Suzanne has received the award. The first was in 2009 and made Castlegar the first small rural community to win.
“I found out yesterday,” said Lehbauer of the major kudo on May 22.
“I was planning to go to the conference anyway, I do every year. But this (award and money for Castlegar’s Hospice effort) is just icing on the cake.”
