The Castlegar Hospice Society launched its holiday fundraising campaign at a reception last Thursday night.

The event was held at the Super 8, where the Celebrate a Life campaign memorial trees and holiday display will remain until the first week of January.

“It’s one of our major fundraisers,” said Suzanne Lehbauer, executive director of the Hospice Society. “The name of this year’s display is ‘The Night Before Christmas’ and as always we have the three memorial trees, including the pet tree.”

Anyone wishing to write a message to their loved one, hang it on one of the trees and make a donation to the campaign can stop by the Super 8 and do so.

“All of the funds, of course, stay right here in Castlegar,” said Lehbauer, “and they go toward providing our hospice palliative services, our grief and bereavement support services and our community workshops.”

This time of year, the Hospice Society also recognizes that some people may need extra support.

“Anyone looking for some extra support over the holiday season, anyone suffering grief, can call the office and we have services we can provide for them,” said Lehbauer.

The Castlegar Hospice Society can be contacted by calling 250-304-1266 or visiting castlegarhospice.org.
