The Castlegar-Robson branch of the Royal Canadian Legion will be hosting a public memorial service for Queen Elizabeth II at the Castlegar Cenotaph at Kinsmen Park at 11 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 19.
The event will have a format similar to the Legion’s Remembrance Day services.
Legion vice president Dean Burdeyny says the ceremony will include the marching of the colours, singing of O Canada, playing of The Last Post, a moment of silence and “for the first time in my lifetime, the singing of God Save the King.”
A wreath honouring Queen Elizabeth will be placed at the cenotaph and participants will have the opportunity to place a poppy on the wreath.
