The Castlegar and District Public Library has gotten into the Christmas Spirit by gifting and gathering.

The library has set up their annual giving tree for visitors to decorate with handmade or new scarves, hats and mitts. The items will be donated to the Community Harvest Food Bank for their Christmas hampers.

The library is allowing patrons to pay their library fines with food.

The library will remove $2 worth of fines for every non-perishable food item or personal hygiene item brought in. Those items will also be given to the local food bank.

The library has also added an exciting piece of equipment — a new self-checkout machine. The new MeeScan will offer patrons the choice and convenience of a self-check machine.
