After a two year absence, Castlegar Library will host another gigantic book sale in its basement room.
Book lovers need to mark Friday, Jan. 20 and Saturday Jan. 21 as two days they can hunt for the books of their dreams. Beginning at 10 a.m. and closing at 4 p.m. each day, this book sale will have something for everyone.
Organized and run by the Friends of the Library group and a host of volunteers, this event will open more than 100 boxes of books to display on tables and book-stands. Those seeking books will be able to select as many as they wish for a donation. Take ten books for a dollar or help the Friends of the Library with a bigger donation.
The group would be pleased if most of the books were chosen and taken home for reading pleasure in the weeks ahead.
You might find the latest mystery and detective works by authors as diverse as John Grisham, Louise Penny, Michael Connelly, Ruth Ware, Lee Child, Peter May, Karin Slaughter and the brilliant John Hart. You will come upon best-sellers from Jodi Picoult, Nicholas Sparks, Elin Hildebrand, Mary Kubicka, or Kate Atkinson. Your interest in the Second World War will get you first-rate books by Pam Jenoff, Molly Green, Kristin Hannah, Natasha Lester, Kate Quinn, Janet Charles, and the best of them – Ronald H. Balson.
Children’s books will abound, and non-fiction will be plentiful. If you’re looking for the Harry Potter books by JK Rowling, you’ll find some. Maybe you’ll even find one of the several strange detective books written by the same author but using the pseudonym of Robert Galbraith. Starting with The Cuckoo’s Calling and featuring a detective named Cormoran, Rowling’s bizarre mysteries take a new direction for this author.
Come to the library and have a pleasant hour or two searching for your type of reading material. You’ll be surprised at the diversity.
