Castlegar residents gathered at the Kinsmen Park Cenotaph to show respect and observe two minutes of silence in honour of Queen Elizabeth II on Monday.

The event was organized by the Castlegar-Robson branch of the Royal Canadian Legion. Piper Len Coates and trumpeter David Leffelaar provided the poignant musical background for the ceremony. Comrade Gerry Rempel spoke about the Queen and her contributions to Canada and the Commonwealth.

To close the ceremony, for the first time in most attendees’ lives, the crowd sang God Save the King.
