Would winning $16,000 be a great way to begin your summer?

The Castlegar Sunrise 2000 Rotary Club is excited to present its first online 50/50 to the Kootenays and beyond. With traditional in-person fundraising avenues still on hold, club members continue to seek new and innovative ways to be able to support local community organizations and projects, while continuing to uphold global commitments.

Fred Hughes leads the committee for this venture. He says, “We’re excited about exploring online fundraising under a BC Gaming Event Licence, while our usual in-person events are not possible.

“Net available proceeds will be donated to local service organizations supporting food security, mental health and grief counselling. All of these areas have seen dramatic increases in demand over the past year.”

Beneficiaries for the fundraiser are New Life Church Food Feast, Castlegar Hospice Society, and BCSPCA Castlegar Branch.

Ticket sales open on April 1 and close on May 31. Tickets are $10 each, 3 for $25, or 7 for $50. Maximum 50/50 payout will be $16,000. The 50/50 is a draw where the money received in ticket sales is divided evenly between the winner and the charity. Ticket purchasers must be 19 years of age or older. Tickets can be purchased online at summerfun2021.rafflenexus.com/a/NEWS. For more information, contact Fred Hughes at infosummerfun2021@shaw.ca.
