The Castlegar branch of the BC SPCA is offering opportunites for youth and families to learn more about animals over the holiday break.
Wild Winter Wednesday will take place on Jan. 2 and give kids between the ages of nine and 14 an opprtunity to learn about animals with games, activities and a special guest speaker from WildSafe BC.
Companions for Life will take place Jan. 3 for the same age group. The workshop will look at what the animals at the BC SPCA can teach us about communication and what they are trying to tell us.
The cost of each workshop is $25 or $40 for both.
On Jan. 4 a workshop for families will take place. Participants will explore various learning stations, take a tour of the shelter and enjoy a presentation on staying bite-free around animals.
These activities are geared for families with children ages 7 and up. Admission is by donation, and pre-registration is required by emailing humane educator Stephenie Campbell at scampbell@spca.bc.ca or by calling 250-509-0382.
All workshops will be taking place at the West Kootenay Community Animal Centre located at 124 Heritage Way in Castlegar.
