While the COVID-19 pandemic may have resulted in the cancellation of traditional face-to-face fundraising events, it didn’t eliminate the need for local service clubs to raise funds for local causes — but it did make it more challenging.

Recognizing the need in our community, members of the Castlegar Sunrise Rotary Club have pivoted their efforts online and are helping other local non-profits in the process.

Led by the efforts of member Gordon Soukoreff, the club has created an online auction platform at www.kootenayauction.com and has teamed up with the Kootenay Gallery of Art and the Kootenay Doukhobor Historical Society.

The auction opened on Nov. 21 and will close on Nov. 27, with items available for pick up starting Nov. 30.

The auction features items such as a day of houseboat rental, a day of fishing on the Columbia with Chillbilly Sport Fishing Charters, services from AM Ford, fabulous offerings from local artists and artisans plus beverage collections and much more.

For a nominal fee, local non-profits can sign up and have their items added to the auction page. Local business owners who wish to donate an item or service will receive recognition through the auction website and kootenayauction Facebook page as well as the Castlegar Sunrise Rotary Facebook page.

For more information on signing up or donating, please contact info@kootenayauction.com.

Don’t miss this great opportunity to shop local for your holiday gift needs in the comfort of your own home.
