A Castlegar organization is stepping forward to help local seniors avoid potential exposure to COVID-19.

IRIS volunteers are offering to go grocery shopping so seniors can stay at home. The Grocery Buddies program will take orders, do the shopping and then deliver the groceries right to any local senior’s door — all for free.

IRIS coordinator Sandi McCreight says they are offering the service as a preventative measure with the goal of helping seniors stay home and stay healthy.

The service is available to any senior, even those that are healthy. If you would like to have a Grocery Buddy, call McCreight at 250-608-0706.
