Christmas at the Gallery, a Kootenay tradition opens on Nov. 17 at 5 p.m.

Every year, crafters and artisans bring in enough stock to fill the Kootenay Gallery of Art with unique gift items.

The display includes pottery, sewn crafts, paintings, knitted dolls, local books for all ages and more. The Gallery hosts one of the largest selections of jewelry in town, from beaded earrings and necklaces to hand-crafted silver designs.

Executive Director Val Field creates a display of items that feels both homey and magical.

She says, “We want you to feel welcome here at the Gallery at any time of year but especially during the Christmas season. We search for holiday-themed goods such as stockings and ornaments to supplement our stock.”

This year, the event will formally open at 5 p.m. on Nov. 17.

Field says, “Christmas at the Gallery is a great place to find one-of-a-kind gifts plus it supports both local artisans and the Kootenay Gallery of Art.” She continues, “Please come join us on the 17th on your way home from work. We’ll have goodies and a no-host wine bar. Bring your friends and get a start on your Christmas shopping.”

The Kootenay Gallery of Art is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. during November. In December, it is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. It is located at 120 Heritage Way, across from the airport, down the road from The Apple Guy and the Doukhobor Discovery Centre.
