Today is a big day for the Community Foundation of Castlegar & District.
The organization is holding the official community launch on April 10 at Kootenay Savings Credit Union Crossroads Branch, which is located at 605 20th St. The event runs from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
“There will be light refreshments provided”, said Bob Jackson, president of the foundation. “Residents of Castlegar and Regional Districts I & J who wish to learn more about our new Foundation are invited to attend. Information will include Who we are, What we do, Why it matters and How you can help.
“We will present details about applying for financial grants, as per our granting policy and procedures,” Jackson added.
Community foundations receive donations from local citizens who wish to give back or leave a permanent legacy in their hometown. These charitable gifts are endowed – pooled and invested carefully. The capital is never touched but provides a perpetual source of income to meet community needs. Financial grants are awarded annually to successful applicants.
“Our mission is to improve the quality of life in Castlegar and District by developing permanent endowments, making responsible grants, and inspiring leadership”, said Jackson. “And our vision is building a better community – now and forever.”
