A Castlegar woman has launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for an Sculpturewalk statue that’s captured the community’s heart.

Humpty Dumpty (previously called Egghead), the beautiful bronze sculpture by artist Kimber Fiebiger, was featured in Sculpturewalk 2015. It has since been sitting on the amphitheatre wall outside the Castlegar and District Public Library. The work has delighted all the children and families who visit him ever since.

Recently the sculpture was vandalized — pushed off the wall. While being repaired, he was very much missed by the community. We’re happy to have put him back in his place, but need to find a way to make the library wall his permanent home so he can continue to be loved by the children and the community.

Castlegar resident Andrea Lamont, a mother and art-lover, has offered to spearhead a fundraising campaign to to help us put Humpty back on the wall forever, so that he can become a permanent resident of Castlegar.

Lamont has started a GoFundMe campaign to raise $23,000 for the purchase of the piece, which would be donated to the Castlegar and District Public Library. So far, about $200 has been raised.

Sculpturewalk is waiving all commission on this sale. Go to https://www.gofundme.com/help-save-humptydumpty for more details. Any and all donations are gracefully accepted. If the total can’t be raised the funds will be put towards continuing the lease.

As part of this fundraising initiative, Lamont has organized a fundraising event at the library on Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon. We will be crafting our own Humpty Dumpties and enjoying some snacks and drinks. Donations will be $5 a child.
