Castlegar Communities in Bloom (CIB) is encouraging everyone to let their artistic side shine by creating sidewalk art.

The Chalk It Up for Hope project is a community art initiative that aims to lift spirits.

People are encouraged to create colourful drawings on the the theme Hope is Growing on their own patch of cement or asphalt.

CIB has provided local elementary schools chalk to distribute to students and more chalk is available for free at Kalawsky GMC.

Once you have created your masterpiece, post it on social media and tag @CIBCef on Instagram or @communitiesin bloom on Facebook and use the hastag #HopeIsGrowing.

Yellow is the international colour of hope, and CIB has also been encouraging local gardeners to fill their flower beds and gardens with yellow this year in another Hope is Growing initiative.

Make sure and post your photos on the Castlegar News Facebook post about this initiative as well and we will pick some of our favourites to include in print.
