A July 30 fund-raising effort for the local Community Harvest Food Bank turned out to be everything organizers had hoped for.

“We finished off the event making about $1000.00 in cash, and a pick-up truck full of food for the food bank,” spokesperson Lori Orser was later pleased to report.

“We had a tie for the spaghetti eating contest. Spirits were high, food was amazing, the weather was beautiful, the entertainment was awesome. It was a great night for all those who attended.”

“I would like to thank  Mountain FM, Castlegar News, Shaw TV, Kim’s Creations, Kootenay Market, Safeway, M & M Meats,” Orser concluded, “Sears Castlegar, Mikes RV, Castlegar & District Community Complex, Castlegar Toyota, The Element night club, and Mitchells supply for all of their generous donations of time and product that helped make this event a success.  We look forward to next year where it will be bigger and better!”
