Grace Richards was crowned Miss Castlegar at the end of the program’s pageant on May 31.
McKenna Ross was crowned Castlegar Princess.
The pageant was held at the Brilliant Cultural Centre. It is the final step in the multi-month Miss Castlegar program. Candidates receive training in things like public speaking, modelling, current events, and time management. They also learn about city council, politics, Castlegar history, resume writing, and personal interview skills.
Five local high school students participated in this year's program: Anais Brazeau, Raielle McComb, Grace Richards, McKenna Ross and Bella Simon.
The Training Award went to McKenna Ross.
The Talent Award went to Raielle McComb and the runner-up was Grace Richards.
The Speech Award went to Grace Richards and Raielle McComb was the runner-up.
Anais Brazeau won the Perseverance Award and McKenna Ross was named Miss Friendship.
