Castlegar Rotarians take advantage of great weather

The City of Castlegar has a tremendous asset on the way thanks in large part to the efforts of local Rotarians.

The "Green Gym" is to be an outdoor exercise facility available for public use at no charge.

Rotarian Wayne Groutage told the Castlegar News on Saturday that the project is expected to be completed by month's end.

The area will have a surface made of crushed rock topped with a rubberized compound which will make for a floor with some give to it, an ideal surface on which to work out.

Groutage added that the apparatus to be installed will be high-end, heavy-duty stuff, powder coated and designed for outdoor use.

"Some cities would kill for a setting like this," said Groutage of the scenic environment along the Columbia River. He added that there will be equipment for exercising every muscle group: legs, chest, arms, trunk.. the works.

Each of the Rotarians at work on the project shared a feeling of excitement over what was being created.

Give it a look if you get down to Twin Rivers Park before the end of September, and give it a try after that.
