Advocate services from The Advocacy Centre based in Nelson will be returning to in-person visits at the Castlegar & District Community Services office.

An advocate will be on site twice a month starting on June 23.

Advocates can discuss income assistance, disability income assistance, CPP, and residential tenancy issues with tenants. They can also provide information about accessing legal aid resources and other legal information.

“The Advocacy Centre staff members have been visiting Castlegar regularly since 2007,” says Becky Quirk, one of the advocates from the Nelson office.

“That all stopped in March 2020. We’ve been working with Castlegar clients remotely during the COVID restrictions, but it is great that we can return to Castlegar in person once again.”

Dates for the summer of 2022 are June 23, July 7, July 21, Aug. 11 and Aug. 25. Anyone who would like to schedule an appointment with the advocate is encouraged to call 250-608-0589. At this time, people meeting with the advocate must wear masks and observe distancing protocols.
