The Coldest Night of the Year fundraising walk is coming up on Feb. 25.

Hosted by Castlegar and District Community Services Society, this annual event aims to help raise awareness and funds for vulnerable populations in the community.

Coldest Night of the Year is a nationwide movement, but money raised during the event stays in the community.

The event will kick of at 4 p.m. and includes an assembly time, two- or five-kilometre walk and concludes with a meal.

What: What can be done to help? Sign up as a volunteer, walker or donate at cnoy.org. It’s easy to do and secure! Donations over $25 get a tax receipt sent directly to them.

Event director Haley Walters encourages people to sign up and participate because, “when we care about our community, we all thrive.”

CDCSS has set a $20,000 goal for this year’s walk and so far there are eight teams and 44 walkers signed up.
